In fact, when it was founded in 1876, it was called 'Gilman Hot Springs'. And like many of the places in this part of the USA, it attracted people seeking a cure to a cornucopia of ailments🤕. In fact, just a few years later, a substantial hotel was built which was supposedly the height of luxury at the time. And it wasn't long before many of the other amenities that small towns have were emerging too. Of course, it took until 1929 before the town was officially named 'Joshua Tree'🤠. So it's had quite the history - and today it stands as a living testament to a town that has been through so much over the years.

My top 5 list of must-see tourist attractions for a Joshua Tree vacation includes the pristine desert landscape, twisted rock formations, and a variety of activities. First and foremost, you won't want to miss the majestic Joshua Tree Nationnall Park. It's the perfect blend of serenity and adventure, boasting gorgeous hiking trails, fascinating wildlife, breathtaking views and plenty of opportunities to explore. Plus, there's the backdrop of amazing rock formations like Arch Rock and Skull Rock. Next on the list is the Indian Cove campground, where you can pitch a tent and spend the night under the stars. It's also known for its climbing rocks, so it's great for amateur and experienced climbers. And for a unique experience, check out Ryan Mountain, the highest point in the park. The breathtaking views from atop the mountain make the hike well worth it! For a delicious Mexican dinner, try Lluvia's: their chalupas are to-die-for! For steak, it's hard to beat the Prime Cut, where the steaks are charcoal-grilled and so tender you could cut it with a fork. I've also had amazing pizza at Moretti's - their secret sauce is 👌 awesomeness! For a unique experience, try the Tree House Cafè. This relaxed bistro is definitely worth checking out. And finally, if you're in the mood for some fresh seafood, be sure to pay Island Cove a visit - they have succulent crab legs and such tasty oysters!
